Carsington Water
Just a few minutes walk from Dubsolation, Carsington Water is one of the best spots nearby for a day out.
Whether you’re up for a gentle walk around the reservoir, a bike ride with views all the way round, or something a bit more active like sailing or water sports, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy.
There’s a full loop around the water, perfect for walking or cycling, along with open spaces for picnics, dog-friendly routes, and plenty of places to stop and take in the views. You’ll also find a visitor centre with a café, small shops, and facilities, plus play areas for children — making it ideal for families as well as couples looking for a slower day.
It’s the kind of place where you can grab a coffee, watch the water, spot a bit of wildlife, or just enjoy being outside. You can easily spend a couple of hours here, or make a full day of it before heading back to your own private space at Dubsolation.



Biking Trails
Dubsolation sits right on the Carsington Loop Cycling Trail, so you can jump straight on your bike and ride from your stay.
The loop offers a mix of quiet lanes and off-road tracks with stunning countryside views, covering around 17 miles (27km)
A short ride down the lane, you also have easy access to the Tissington Trail, a traffic-free route along a former railway line, perfect for a more relaxed ride, families, or taking in the views at your own pace

Peak District Walks
Dubsolation is perfectly placed for exploring some of the Peak District’s most beautiful walks.
From gentle riverside strolls to more adventurous routes, there’s something for everyone nearby.
Popular spots include Lathkill Dale, Thor’s Cave, and Dovedale, all offering incredible scenery, fresh air and proper countryside views.
